With great sadness, we report the death of Tyler Hawkins, drummer for the Foo Fighters. Hawkins was found dead in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia yesterday morning. The cause of death is currently unknown, and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
This is a tragic loss for the music community, and our thoughts go out to Tyler’s family and friends during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Tyler. You will be missed.
Foo Fighters were born in Seattle, Washington, in 1984. Tyler Hawkins was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He began playing drums at the age of six, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already a well-known drummer in the Seattle music scene. In 2002, at the age of eighteen, Hawkins joined the Foo Fighters as their drummer. For the next fifteen years, he remained with the band, playing on all of their albums and touring with them extensively.
Hawkins was an incredible drummer and a beloved member of the Foo Fighters family. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time. Thank you for everything, Tyler. Rest in peace.
