I have booked private parties since 1989. Halloween weekend in this city is not a normal Saturday. Hotels fill with groups who thought they were being original. Houses on tight blocks stay loud until the sidewalk quiets down. The show still has to fit the door it walks through.
Clear the floor before you hang the lights
Halloween clutter kills a private show. Blow-up arches, a fog machine in the doorway, a snack table in the only open floor. That is how you get a performer stuck between a couch and a TV.
Leave a real lane from the door to the middle of the room. Move the coffee table. Park the fog by a window, not the entrance. If you are in a suite, use one bedroom as the dump zone for coats and costumes so the living room stays open.
Lighting is simple. Overhead glare is ugly. Lamps, string lights, a couple of pumpkins. You want faces you can see and a room that still looks like a party.
Costumes should let people sit down. Witch, black cat, devil horns, a cop hat. Leave the eight-foot wings at home. You want photos. You also want the guest of honor able to sit in a chair without taking someone’s eye out.
When the show should walk in
Do not have entertainment arrive at the same minute as the first guests. People are still in the garage, still pouring the first drink, still arguing about the playlist. Give the group 45 minutes to an hour in the room first. Coats off. Photos done. The bachelor actually present.
Then the doorbell. That is the beat that makes Halloween feel like a night instead of a costume meet-up. If you reverse it, the show happens while half the group is still in an Uber.

A Center City or University City suite is easy on parking and tight on floor. One living room, a door that opens to a hallway, a front desk. Ask the hotel, in writing if you can get it, whether private adult entertainment is allowed in the room. Some say yes. Some say no. That call is yours.
A house in South Philly, Northern Liberties, or across in the nearer suburbs gives you a kitchen and usually more floor. It also gives you neighbors. Halloween looks like an event even when it is twelve friends. Read the house rules. Keep the music inside. Put the show in the living room with the blinds down, not on a stoop facing the street.
Guest count is the real number. Six people in a suite is one performer. Past ten, two is the usual conversation so the room does not stall. Count the adults who will still be there at show time, not the group chat maybe list.
What I need on the call
Date, start time, hotel name or house address, how many adults will be in the room, and whether you want a female entertainer for a bachelor party. If the bachelor would rather watch than sit in the chair, say that. It is a normal request.
Have one person at the door. Have a bathroom the performer can use. Have the dog in a bedroom if the dog is a jumper. Those three things save the first ten minutes.
