If December is already on the calendar and you want the party to feel like a holiday without a kids’ table, start with the guest list, the playlist, and sexy Santa performers in Tampa for a living-room hour after the ugly appetizers.

This is the post I want sitting online before anyone books a December Saturday. Locals throw girls’ Christmas parties, friend nights, birthday-in-December hybrids. Visiting crews use the same month because Florida in winter is the point. Santa here is an adult costume theme. It is not a mall.

Say the sentence out loud

Adult holiday party. 21 and over. No family drop-ins. If that sentence makes someone uncomfortable, this isn’t their night, and that’s fine. There are a hundred wholesome Tampa Decembers. This is the other kind, hosted like adults.

Write it on the invite. Red and black, cocktail attire, optional hat. You don’t need a trademarked character and you don’t need a lawn full of inflatables. Warm lights. A tree if you have one. A table that can take a drink.

House beats restaurant. Every time.

A South Tampa dining room. A Hyde Park bungalow. A Water Street suite with a common room. Restaurants will not let you run a private hour, and you shouldn’t try. The show belongs behind a door you control, after food, with a count you gave me on the phone.

Parking notes. A person on the door. Neighbors who still live here in December with windows cracked because the weather is finally kind. Keep the speaker inside.

Bachelorette: male dancers in a simple Santa-adjacent costume theme. Bachelor holiday night: female dancers in the same tasteful lane. Mixed friend groups should say so. You approve who walks in.

Call earlier than the Amazon order

Mid-October is when you should be thinking about December Saturdays, not the week of the office party. If your date sits on the Saturday before Christmas or the week between Christmas and New Year’s, lock the house and the hour early. Locals can do a Thursday and still be functional at work, which is a very Tampa move. Visitors shouldn’t stack a late flight with a late show. Friday easy, Saturday the night, Sunday human.

Sequence it like a host

Do the white-elephant bit first if you’re doing it, or skip it. Don’t run a gift exchange through a performance. Cake or cookies before. Water visible. Clear a space. Dim the overheads.

Keep the guest list to people who knew what they accepted. Holiday parties attract plus-ones. Plus-ones are how a cute night gets weird. The count on the call is the count in the room.

Photos by the tree before, in light you own. Not during. Not in a hallway. Not with anyone who didn’t want to be in the frame.

I’ve run the agency since 1989 and the website since 2007. I danced for 22 years. None of that makes a public bar in a Santa hat a good idea. Don’t send a performer to a lobby. Don’t mix this with a kids’ cookie decorating at 4 p.m. in the same living room unless the cookie people have left and the room has been reset. Two parties, two times, two guest lists.

Playlists, coats, and the December grocery

Have a playlist that’s holiday without being a mall. Then have a second playlist for after. Volume stays inside. A coat pile that isn’t the sofa. A drink that isn’t only sugar so people still have a pulse at 10 p.m.

Grocery like a host: ice, mixers, water, something salty, something sweet, lemons, extra ice. December in Tampa still needs ice. Assign the run to a person who can go before guests arrive, not during.

If gifts are part of it, cap the price and cap the time. A twenty-minute white elephant is a bit. A forty-minute one is a meeting. Then you need the room back.

Out-of-towners: tell them whether this is cocktail attire or sweater. Tell them the pin. Tell them there isn’t a club after unless you planned one, and you probably shouldn’t have. The house is the night. I danced for 22 years. Public Santa is a different job. This is the living room job.

If kids’ hours happened at four in the same house, the adult night doesn’t start until that room is reset: different glasses, different playlist, doors that were for family now closed. Don’t overlap. Don’t explain the second party to a child. There should be no child there.

If this is friends from work, remember that work still exists in the morning. Take fewer photos. Don’t tag the office. A Tuesday Santa night can be fun and still be discreet. The host sets that tone in one sentence at the start. I’ve booked private events since 1989. Discreet is a skill. Use it.

Have a rideshare plan on the fridge. Have water at the door on the way out. Holiday nights in this city still end on real streets with real headlights. I danced for 22 years. The house is the night. Call me when the date and the door are real, and we’ll keep it adult and hosted.

If the date and the door are real, call Hot Party Stripper at 813-314-7735 and tell me it’s an adult Santa night, not a maybe.
