Palmetto Bay is a drive. Old Cutler, trees, lots that can swallow a party. Halloween here is a backyard and a cul-de-sac, not a desk. If your group is coming from downtown, they will be late. Build that into the start. I would rather the costume sit in the driveway five minutes than start for two couples who arrived on time and a chat that is still on US-1.
These yards are the reason people book south. Space. A covered patio. A pool deck you should not use as a stage unless the deck is dry and the group is off the coping. I prefer grass or a covered terrace. Water and costumes are a bad mix when someone has been drinking since 4.

HOA streets look relaxed until someone parks on the grass. Follow the street. Put a person at the cul-de-sac so we do not cruise the wrong circle of identical roofs. House numbers hide in hedges here too.
Group sizes can be bigger than the city. Twenty-five in a Palmetto Bay backyard can still see if you ring them. Forty is a reunion. Pull the people who want the show into one area. Let the rest stay at the food tables. I am not working the whole acre.
Neighbors are farther away and still not deaf. You get more volume than Miami Shores. You do not get a concert. When the set is done, the night can go back to a playlist at house level. If the HOA has a quiet hour, tell me before I quote a window that ends after it.
This is not a hotel market. It is not walkable. People drive, they park in the driveway, they stay. Plan one address. Do not add a second stop in the Gables “on the way home.” That is how you lose the second half of the group and then want a refund on a show that already happened.
Have bug spray if we are outside. Have a backup living room if the weather turns. Have the dog in a bedroom. Have lights on the patio that are not motion floods kicking on every time someone walks to the cooler.
Same-night Palmetto Bay is often easier than a Key tower because houses decide late. Saturday before the 31st still fills. Call with the date, backyard versus inside, and how long the drive is from wherever your friends are eating.
Old Cutler has no shoulder and no patience for a stopped car. Do not have the performer idle on the road looking for a mailbox. Someone stands at the mouth of the cul-de-sac. If the lot is gated, open it before the window. I am not hopping an HOA gate in a costume.
South Dade weather flips. Have the inside room ready even if you planned the yard. A covered lanai is not the same as a sealed living room when the wind comes through the trees. Tell me which room is the real backup, not “somewhere inside.”
