Coral Gables will write you a noise ticket before it writes you a thank-you note. Halloween in a Mediterranean house on a quiet street is a good room if you treat it like a house, not a club. Setbacks, coral rock, a neighbor who has lived there since before you rented the place. Keep the windows shut for the set. Keep the set short.
Historic homes are tight in the middle and pretty at the edges. Arches, tile, a courtyard that looks like a stage and acts like an echo chamber. Courtyard shows bounce off stucco and travel. I prefer the living room with the doors closed. If you insist on the patio, we cut the music and we cut the time.

Parking is on the swale, a short driveway, or a garage that fits two cars if nobody blocked it with a florist van. Do not tell a performer to circle Granada. Someone stands at the street and waves. Gables streets loop. GPS gets cute after dark.
Group size that fits a Gables house is eight to eighteen. More than that and you are in the courtyard whether you planned it or not. University-area rentals turn into crowd scenes. If this is a student house, say so. I need to know if the crowd is a living room or a lawn.
This city polices quality of life. That is not me guessing. You already know if your block is quiet. Halloween is not a free pass. We do the show, we keep it inside, we leave. If you want two hours of staffing, that is a different order. A performance is a window, not a roommate.
Hotels on Miracle Mile or US-1 are a different booking. Most Gables Halloween calls I take are houses. A hotel needs a name at the desk and a room that will not get a knock from security ten minutes in. Say hotel or house on the first sentence of the call.
Have the furniture moved before we arrive. Those dining tables are heavy and they sit in the only clear floor. Have a bathroom that is not a powder room with no lock. Have the overhead chandelier dimmed. Gables lighting is bright on purpose. Dim it.
Same-day Gables on a Saturday is a no unless I already had a cancellation. People in this neighborhood plan. You should too. Call with the date, the house versus hotel, and whether children will still be trick-or-treating on your sidewalk. If they will, we wait until that is over.
Coral rock driveways wreck heels and they wreck rolling bags. If the costume has a case, someone meets at the street with hands free. Do not make them drag a bag up a slick walk in the dark. Gables lots look short from the road and then they are not. Tell me if there is a side gate. A lot of these houses hide the real entrance behind a hedge.
